Antonio Rudiger and Ross Barkley trained on the eve of Chelsea’s Champions League game against Valencia but Callum Hudson-Odoi did not take part in the session.

Defender Rudiger, who has made just one appearance for the Blues this season, recently had surgery on a pelvic problem and appears to be closing in on a return to action.

Barkley has been out with an ankle injury, while Hudson-Odoi recently picked up a hamstring problem while on international duty with England.

Youngsters Billy Gilmour and Tariq Lamptey also took part in Monday’s session before the squad departed for Spain, where manager Frank Lampard is due to speak at a news conference at 6.30pm UK time.
