Delap seals £50m move to Nottingham Forest

Liam Delap has completed a move from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest for a fee in the region of £50m – a club-record signing for Forest.
The sale comes a year after Chelsea signed Delap from Ipswich Town for £30m, having beaten competition from Manchester United and Everton for his signature.
Chelsea made him available for transfer this summer after he scored just one Premier League goal in a season disrupted by shoulder and hamstring injuries. The club have signed two strikers already this summer, Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg and Danny Welbeck from Brighton, as they have looked to strengthen their attacking options following Delap’s difficult debut campaign.

Delap, 23, came through Derby County’s youth system before joining Manchester City in 2019.

City sold Delap to Ipswich for £20m in the summer of 2024. He scored 12 goals in 37 Premier League games for the newly promoted side before his move to Chelsea a year later.
