Chelsea agree to sell Delap to Forest
The club have signed two strikers already this summer, Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg and Danny Welbeck from Brighton, as they have looked to strengthen their attacking options following Delap’s difficult debut campaign.
Delap came through Derby County’s youth system before joining Manchester City in 2019. He won the FA Youth Cup with City in 2019-20 and scored 24 goals in 20 Premier League 2 matches the following season as City won the title.
He scored on his senior City debut in a League Cup win over Bournemouth in September 2020, and made his Premier League debut three days later.
Injuries limited his first-team opportunities at City, and between 2022 and 2024 he had loan spells in the Championship with Stoke, Preston North End and Hull City.
City sold Delap to Ipswich for £20m in the summer of 2024. He scored 12 goals in 37 Premier League games for the newly promoted side before his move to Chelsea a year later.
