Andreas Christensen says everyone at Chelsea is excited by the potential of his club team-mate Ethan Ampadu.

The defensive duo are set to line up on opposite sides in the Nations League when Wales host Denmark on Friday.

Ampadu, 18, has played three times for Wales this season but has yet to add to the seven appearances he has made for the Blues so far.

“At Chelsea, we are just as excited about Ethan as the people in Wales are,” Christensen, 22, said.

“He does brilliantly in training and everyone is looking forward to seeing what he can become – me included.

“He is a brilliant guy, and I am looking forward to seeing him again. We stay close to each other, and he is someone I am excited to see every day at the training ground.”

Christensen was a regular under Antonio Conte last season but has only played six games for the Blues this season, with one further appearance for Denmark.

A win for either Wales or Denmark on Friday would see them top their Nations League group, while a draw would leave Denmark in pole position ahead of hosting the struggling Republic of Ireland next week.
