Eto’o set for Chelsea debut – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has indicated that recent signing Samuel Eto’o will make his Premier League debut for Chelsea at Everton on Saturday.

The former Barcelona and Real Madrid star, who arrived on a free transfer from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala last month, has been included in the squad for the trip to Merseyside.

And Mourinho says Eto’o is likely to feature at Goodison Park, where Chelsea will be looking to continue their excellent start to the season.

Mourinho has plenty of options.

The Blues boss said: “He will be selected [in the squad] and normally when you are a striker and are selected you will start or finish the game.

“My attacking players, when I select them, normally they play because it’s the area where I make most changes during a match.”

And Mourinho is convinced the Cameroon international, 32, will score goals in England and complement Chelsea’s fluid style of play.

He also believes Eto’o’s experience will strengthen a side in which youngsters such as Oscar and Eden Hazard have played a pivotal role.

“Samuel is a player who can adapt to the style of play we want in our team, which is a bit contradictory to the general style,” said Mourinho.

“We are not anymore a physical, direct team. We are a team which likes to use our attacking players in a different way and he is technically very good and is very intelligent.”
