Delap scores his first Chelsea goal as Blues progress in Club World Cup
Liam Delap scored his first Chelsea goal as they qualified for the knockout stages of the Club World Cup with 3-0 a win over ES Tunis.
Tosin Adarabioyo and Tyrique George also scored for Enzo Maresca’s side, who will face Benfica on Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the last 16.
Adarabioyo headed in Enzo Fernandez’s free-kick to open the scoring, before recent signing Delap netted with a precise finish.
George, on as a substitute, added a third in the final moments of the game.
“The performance was good. It was not easy and until we scored the first goal, it was difficult to break their defensive line down,” head coach Maresca said.
“We were quite patient and when we scored the first goal the game became a little more open and a little easier for us.”
