Drinkwater completes loan move to Burnley

Burnley have signed Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea until January.

The midfielder, 29, has failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge since arriving from Leicester two years ago.

He did not feature at all under Maurizio Sarri last season and new Blues boss Frank Lampard made it clear Drinkwater was not in his plans either.

Drinkwater has previously decided against leaving on loan but this time opted to make the move.

“Danny’s one we thought could come in and his challenge is to get into the team,” Burnley boss Sean Dyche said.

“It will be a challenge for him. I don’t think he’d come here expecting to walk straight into the team.

“On the other hand, I certainly don’t think he lacks belief in himself to force his way into the team.”
