Palace interested in Bakayoko, Telegraph say

The Daily Telegraph say Crystal Palace are interested in Tiemoue Bakayoko, although the midfielder is close to returning to AC Milan.

Bakayoko has failed to make an impact at Chelsea since a big-money move from Monaco and the Blues are looking to offload him.

He was previously on loan at Milan, who opted not to sign him on a permanent deal, and spent last season back on loan at Monaco.

Now Chelsea are discussing a new loan deal with Milan, with the option of a permanent move next summer.

But the Telegraph say Palace are monitoring the situation and are interested in taking Bakayoko to Selhurst Park.

The newspaper also reports that Chelsea are looking to complete the signing of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Rennes.

And the Daily Mirror reports that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is looking to repair his relationship with Jurgen Klopp after an angry exchange with the Liverpool manager during last season’s match at Anfield.

The story is based on Lampard’s comments to The High Performance Podcast.

He said: “I did regret that. When it broke the next day and a friend of mine sent it to me in the morning, I was a bit embarrassed by it.

“Because I was in the moment, but in the moment, I felt we turned up and it was the easiest day for Liverpool ever.

“They won the league, they went goals up early in the game. And a few things happened with the bench, I’m not going to go into detail, but my feeling was, ‘I want to protect my club’.

“My feeling was, I want to be there where they are. I definitely didn’t mean any disrespect to Jurgen Klopp, because I’ve got huge admiration for them.

“But what I felt had gone on, it was an impulse reaction, which I will happily – when I do see him, I’ll put that one right.”
