Courtois to miss Man City game after appeal is rejected

Chelsea’s appeal against Thibaut Courtois’ sending-off against Swansea has been rejected.

The Blues goalkeeper was red-carded in the 52nd-minute of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge following a foul on Bafetimbi Gomis, who equalised for the visitors with the resulting penalty.

Courtois will now be suspended for Sunday’s away match against Manchester City.[phone][/phone]

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho refused to comment on the incident when asked about it after the match.

Asmir Begovic came on as a substitute for his Chelsea debut following Courtois’ dismissal and is now in line to start at City.
