Courtois passed fit to return for Chelsea

Thibaut Courtois has been passed fit to rejoin the Chelsea squad for this weekend’s game at Newcastle.

The goalkeeper missed Wednesday’s draw with Huddersfield because of a back problem but trained on Friday morning and is line for a return to the team.

Boss Antonio Conte confirmed: “Today he trained and for this reason he will be in contention for the Newcastle game.”

The dropped points in midweek mean Chelsea go into the final Premier League game of the campaign with only a slim chance of snatching a top-four finish.

They now cannot catch Tottenham and will only qualify for next season’s Champions League if they win at Newcastle and Liverpool lose at home to Brighton.
