Antonio Conte says he has overlooked Michy Batshuayi because the striker is still getting back his sharpness after injury.

Conte left him on the bench for for the 3-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Tuesday, preferring to play Eden Hazard as the furthest man forward in Alvaro Morata’s absence.

Hazard excelled in the role and was ably supported by Willian and Pedro, who both scored.

Conte said Batshuayi is playing more this season and “is part of the squad” despite speculation over the Belgian’s future.

Batshuayi has played 15 times for the Blues this season, starting six games and scoring seven goals.

“Don’t forget he played in the Community Shield and we started the season with him,” Conte added. “I try to make the best decision for the team.

“He was out for three weeks. He had a problem with his ankle. Then he struggled to find the right physical condition. Now he is starting to stay in good form.”
