Antonio Conte has insisted Gianluca Vialli’s suggestion that he “cannot wait” to leave Chelsea was wide of the mark.

Amid continued speculation over Conte’s future as Blues boss, ex-Chelsea man Vialli told Italian television he believes his former team-mate is keen to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

“It’s not true,” Conte said at a media conference on Friday afternoon.

“Gianluca is a friend but I have not talked with him for one year, maybe. It’s not true.”

Chelsea have been widely tipped to replace Conte this summer, when he will have a year of his contract at Stamford Bridge remaining.

He has been linked with the likes of Paris St-Germain as well as a return to his previous job as Italy boss, which he left to take over at the Bridge in 2016.

However, Conte has continued to insist that he intends to stay.

“It is very difficult for me. Since the start of this season I have been listening to a lot of speculation about my future,” he said.

“I am reading a lot of speculation about my future since the start of the season and the only truth is that I am committed to this club. This is the truth. The other situations are not true.”
