Hazard expected to miss start of season

Eden Hazard is expected to miss the start of next season after suffering a fractured right ankle, Chelsea have confirmed.

The club announced on Monday afternoon that Hazard, 26, had undergone “successful” surgery and is likely to return to training in around three months.[phone][/phone]

Hazard sustained the injury during a training session while on international duty with Belgium.

The news he is unlikely to be able to train until September is a blow for the Blues as he was a key player in their title-winning campaign.

He scored 16 Premier League goals last season and has netted 57 in total since his arrival from Lille in 2012.
