Chelsea youngsters sign new deals

England Under-21 internationals Josh McEachran and Ryan Bertrand have signed new long-term contracts with Chelsea.

McEachran has been given a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, while Bertrand has signed for four years.

Both players are products of Chelsea’s academy and made their first-team debuts last season.

Midfielder McEachran, 18, is Chelsea’s current young player of the year and was given a starting place for the Blues’ final home match of the campaign, against Newcastle.

Bertrand, who turns 22 next month, was on the books at Gillingham before being snapped up by Chelsea in 2005.

He has since starred for Chelsea’s youth and reserve sides, and has had loan spells at Bournemouth, Oldham, Norwich, Reading and Nottingham Forest. QPR recently expressed an interest in signing him.
