Chelsea youngsters beaten by Everton

Chelsea’s development side lost 2-0 to Premier League 2 leaders Everton on Monday evening and played most of the game with 10 men.

Already facing a tough task against an in-form Everton team, the visitors had Richard Nartey sent off after 15 minutes.

Nartey was shown the red card for bringing down Bassala Sambou as the forward went through on goal.

Fraser Hornby fired Everton ahead 11 minutes later but Chelsea battled on, with Billy Gilmour and substitute Martell Taylor-Crossdale (pictured) going close to equalising.

But Sambou sealed Everton’s win with a penalty with 14 minutes remaining after Hornby had been fouled by Marc Guehi.
