Chelsea Under-18s lose at City

Chelsea’s Under-18 side lost 2-0 at Manchester City on Saturday – their first defeat since September.

Reece James had a penalty saved at City’s Academy Stadium, where Tom Dele-Bashiru and Taylor Richards scored for the hosts.

After Dele-Bashiru had fired City ahead, Chelsea were given a chance to level when George McEachran was fouled in the box.

But keeper Arijanet Muric kept out the resulting spot-kick from James and the young Blues were unable to find an equaliser.

Lorenzo Gonzalez hit the post before Richards sealed City’s win with an injury-time goal.

On Friday evening, Ike Ugbo scored twice for Chelsea’s Under-23s in a 3-0 win against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.
