Chelsea youngster Jordan Houghton has told Doncaster Rovers’ website he is open to a permanent move to the Yorkshire club.

The midfielder, 22, was on loan at Rovers last season and returned for a second loan spell during the summer after recovering from injury.

That loan was recently extended for the rest of the season, giving Houghton more time to decide whether to sign on a permanent basis.

“I think the loan was the best option for everyone,” he said.

“It would be my first permanent move so I had to make sure it was right for everyone around me. I’m definitely open to it, though.

“Signing permanently rather than on loan is a big commitment. It means relocating fully up here, which I am willing to do, but just didn’t want to be rushed.”
