Chelsea youngster given pro contract

Chelsea have given a professional contract to academy youngster Marcel Lewis after he turned 17.

Lewis, a midfielder, has been with Chelsea since being signed from his hometown club Cambridge United in 2015.

He was given a scholarship deal in July this year and is now old enough to be signed as a professional.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Under-19 side will get their Uefa Youth League campaign under way on Wednesday afternoon.

Chelsea, finalists for the past three seasons, face Norwegian side Molde at the Blues’ Cobham training ground in the first leg of the first round.
