Chelsea midfielder John Swift, currently on loan at Brentford, admits he is uncertain of his future at Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old is out of contract in the summer and does not know whether the Blues plan to offer him a new deal.

He said: “I don’t really know much about it. I leave it to my agent and Chelsea to talk about, really.

“When my loan actually comes to an end, I’ll go back there and talk to them and see what my position is.”

Swift, who turns 21 in June, has scored four goals in 20 appearances for Brentford, having previously been on loan at Swindon and Rotherham.

And he says he would be happy to speak to the Bees about staying at Griffin Park if Chelsea do not offer him a new contract.

He said: “At the end of the season I don’t really know what’s going to happen but if Brentford were to offer me [something] I’d be delighted.

“Ever since I came here, I wanted to stay here until the end of the season. I kind of knew that after the first few games, even when [previous boss Lee] Carsley left.

“I feel like I’m doing really well at the moment. I’m playing week in, week out in the Championship so I’m getting a lot stronger and getting used to the physical side of it.”
