Chelsea Under-18s also close to title

Chelsea Under-18s beat Arsenal 3-1 on Tuesday and, like the first team, are now one win away from clinching the title.

Cole Dasilva and Trevoh Chalobah scored first-half goals at the Blues’ Cobham training ground, where Martell Taylor-Crossdale restored the two-goal advantage after Eddie Nketiah had scored for the visitors.

It means a win against Reading on Friday – the same day Chelsea will be crowned Premier League champions if they beat West Brom – would secure the Under-18 title for the first time in 23 years.

DaSilva gave Chelsea the ideal start, opening the scoring on 10 minutes with a left-footed finish from Dujon Sterling’s cross.

Chalobah doubled the lead from Mason Mount’s corner, but Arsenal were better in the second half and Nketiah turned in Chris Willock’s cross.

But Taylor-Crossdale fired home late on – the striker’s 21st goal of the season – to seal the victory.
