Chelsea youngsters crowned European champions again

Kasey Palmer scored the decisive goal as Chelsea’s Under-19s beat Paris St Germain 2-1 to win the Uefa Youth League for the second successive season.

Fikayo Tomori put the holders ahead in Nyon, Switzerland, and then conceded a penalty which was saved by Blues keeper Bradley Collins.

PSG drew level in the second half but Palmer restored his team’s lead with a cool finish after latching on to a fine pass from Mukhtar Ali.

Tomori opened the scoring by smashing in from close range after Jake Clarke-Salter’s header had been parried.

And after a foul by Tomori, Collins kept out the resulting penalty by Jean-Kévin Augustin and produced another fine save to deny Alec Georgen.

Chelsea might have had a penalty of their own when Jacob Maddox went down in the area, and early in the second half Tammy Abraham missed a great chance to make it 2-0 when he blazed over.

Winger Meité Yakou cut in from the left and blasted in an equaliser, but Chelsea hit back to retain the trophy in dramatic style.
