Tomori back and Loftus-Cheek ‘making good progress’

Fikayo Tomori has been passed fit to return to the Chelsea squad for the derby against rivals Tottenham.

Manager Frank Lampard, who will come up against his former boss Jose Mourinho in Sunday’s game, confirmed at a news conference that Tomori is available for selection along with Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud.

Tomori has recovered from a hip problem, while Barkley and Giroud have also recently been nursing injuries.

Lampard said: “Ross is fine. Tomori is fine for selection and Giroud is fine. They’re all fine.”

He also confirmed that Ruben Loftus-Cheek now appears to be making significant progress in his recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Lampard recently admitted that the England midfielder had suffered setbacks in his comeback.

But the news on Loftus-Cheek is now more encouraging.

“He’s making good progress, which is really positive. We’re happy with that,” Lampard said.
