Chelsea strike back to demolish Leeds

Leeds United 1 Chelsea 5

Chelsea came from behind with a second-half goal blitz to book their place in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup, where they will face Swansea.

Luciano Becchio put Championship side Leeds ahead but Juan Mata equalised for the Blues before they took control with goals from Branislav Ivanovic and Victor Moses.

Substitute Eden Hazard made it four before Fernando Torres rounded off an emphatic second-half display by the European champions.

David Luiz gave the ball away in the build-up to Leeds’ opener eight minutes before the break.

Sam Bryam intercepted the Brazilian’s wayward pass and found Jerome Thomas, whose excellent low cross enabled Becchio to slot home.

Chelsea hit back two minutes after the interval courtesy of an error by keeper Jamie Ashdown, who produced a number of good saves but allowed Mata’s shot from the edge of the penalty area to squirm into the net.

Ivanovic’s near-post header from Frank Lampard’s corner and Moses’ 25-yarder less than two minutes later turned the game on its head and Leeds wilted in the closing minutes.

Hazard, on as a substitute, finished well after being put through by Luiz before Torres tapped in the fifth.

Chelsea: Cech, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Luiz, Bertrand (Cole 74), Lampard, Oscar, Marin (Hazard 60), Mata (Ferreira 85), Moses, Torres.
Subs not used: Turnbull, Piazon, Saville, Ake.
