Caicedo fit to return for Chelsea

Moises Caicedo has been passed fit to return for Chelsea, boss Xabi Alonso has confirmed.

The midfielder has not featured since going off injured during the game against his former club Brighton in August.

He has trained fully during the international break, though, and is available for Saturday’s home game against Bournemouth.

Alonso declared on Friday afternoon: “Ready to go. Finally, you have been asking this question and we have news; he has been training and is ready.

“We have missed him for sure and we are happy to have him back. And he is better – we didn’t want to take risks. He is much better.”

Cole Palmer, Reece James and Joao Pedro, who have had recent fitness issues, are also available, as is Marco Palestra.

But the news on Jamie Gittens is much less positive.

The Blues winger suffered an ankle injury while playing for England Under-21s on Friday and faces a spell on the sidelines

“That’s the bad news from this international break,” said Alonso.

“He’s injured his ankle and is going to be out for a few weeks.”
