Setback for Pedro after return to training

Pedro is still struggling with an ankle injury and appears to be a major doubt for Chelsea’s game against Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday.

The Spaniard, who missed Saturday’s home defeat against Burnley, trained on Friday but complained of pain in the affected ankle.

He will be assessed ahead of this weekend’s game to see if he is fit enough to be included in the squad, but looks unlikely to feature.

“Pedro trained today with us and felt pain in his ankle,” boss Antonio Conte confirmed.

“I don’t know about Pedro. I don’t know if he will be available for Sunday.”

Chelsea will be without the suspended Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas, who were sent off against Burnley.

Conte said his lack of midfield options means summer signing Tiémoué Bakayoko could be involved despite not being fully fit.
