Kepa won’t return before World Cup

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga will not return to action before the World Cup.

The 28-year-old, who has been nominated as the Premier League Player of the Month for October after a string of impressive performances, suffered a foot injury during Chelsea’s 4-1 defeat at Brighton last Saturday.

And Blues boss Graham Potter has confirmed that he is not expected to return before the break for the World Cup later this month.

“Kepa, no. It’s his plantar fasciitis, so the bottom of his foot,” he said.

“I don’t think he’ll play before the World Cup.”

Mateo Kovacic has been training with the team and is available again, however, after missing the midweek game against Dinamo Zagreb due to tightness in his calf.

But fellow midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is out with a hamstring injury, while Chelsea are still waiting to hear on the extent of Ben Chilwell’s hamstring injury.
