Chelsea set to sign United States star Macario and James signs new deal

Chelsea Women are set to complete the signing of United States international Catarina Macario.

The 23-year-old’s contract at French club Lyon expires at the end of the month and she has agreed a deal with the Blues.

Macario since not played since June last year because of a long-term knee injury and will miss this summer’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, Chelsea forward Lauren James has signed a new four-year contract.

The sister of Chelsea men’s star Reece, James said: “It’s an amazing feeling to extend my stay at the club I love and where I feel most at home.

“I’m looking forward to the future and I want to reach my full potential.

“I want to be the best version of me as a player and as a person, helping to inspire the next generation.

“It definitely feels like home and it’s always been the place I’ve wanted to be.”

Magdalena Eriksson and Pernille Harder, whose departure from Chelsea at the end of their contracts was recently announced, have both signed for Bayern Munich.
