Chelsea v Manchester United player ratings

Second-half goals from Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer secured victory for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Here’s how we rated each Blues player in the 2-0 win over Manchester United.
Mike Penders: 7
Kept Chelsea level in a first half when United carved them open far too often. He twice stopped Amad from close range, then stood big as Bruno Fernandes raced through, and the United captain lifted his shot over. A comfortable stop from Joshua Zirkzee late on finished a tidy afternoon for the stand-in keeper.
Josh Acheampong: 6
Got forward well down the right, winning a corner with a driving run and testing keeper Lammens with a long-range effort after the break. He had his hands full at times in a first half when Chelsea’s defence was stretched.
Wesley Fofana: 5
A day of two halves. His loose touches gifted Amad two clear chances before the break, and on another day either could have been costly. To his credit, he threw himself in front of another Amad shot and won the penalty that changed the game when he was caught in the face by Lisandro Martinez.
Levi Colwill: 6
Rarely featured in the big moments at either end, which on a day when United kept getting in behind is no bad thing. He settled down with the rest of the defence once Chelsea took control after the break.
Marco Palestra: 6
A first Premier League start for the Italian. He was caught in possession by Amad early on but did not let it affect him and kept going until he made way midway through the second half.
Moises Caicedo: 6
The captain was in the thick of a scrappy midfield battle and nearly scored by accident when a corner cannoned off him onto the post. Harry Maguire’s challenge on him on the edge of the box went unpunished.

Romeo Lavia: 7
His ball-winning was a big part of why Chelsea grew into the game. He pinched possession from Fernandes in the build-up to Estevao’s disallowed goal, and did the groundwork in midfield for Rogers’ opener.
Pedro Neto: 6
Asked to play through the middle, with no recognised striker, he spent the opening stages chasing balls over the top that never quite came off. He did rob Maguire deep in United’s half before the break but found nobody in the box to pick out.
Cole Palmer: 6
Back from suspension but not at his sharpest. He was dispossessed in his own half for one of United’s best first-half chances and dragged a late shot well over. He held his nerve from the spot for his 50th Premier League goal for Chelsea, in his 105th appearance, though Lammens got a hand to it.
Estevao: 8
Made the most of his first Premier League start of the season. He had more shots and more touches in the box than anyone else, created more chances than anyone else, and caused problems from set-pieces. He had the ball in the net twice, a rebound in the first half and a thumping right-footed finish after the break, and both were ruled out for offside. He got a huge ovation when he came off.
Morgan Rogers: 8
Quiet for much of the first half, then produced the moment that turned the game. He powered through the middle of United’s defence and dinked a cool finish over Lammens. His running also forced Martinez into the first of his two bookings, and the goal took him to 10 goal involvements this season.
Pep Chavarria: 6
A calm cameo with the game won.
