Bamford praised after scoring Rams winner

Derby County boss Steve McClaren hailed Patrick Bamford’s composure in front of goal after the on-loan Chelsea striker’s winner against Brighton.

Bamford, 20, came on as a substitute and scored his first goal for the Rams, giving them a 1-0 victory.

Following his goalscoring exploits while on loan at League One club MK Dons, it was the perfect start for Bamford at a higher level.

And McClaren said: “Patrick showed great composure. There was no panic.

“We know he’s got that quality and it needed a calm head in that situation. He produced that moment of quality to win it.”

McClaren’s side, fourth in the Championship, face Blackburn next weekend.
