Chelsea hold Lyon to draw in Women’s Champions League

Chelsea took a point from their Champions League league-phase trip to Lyon, drawing 0-0. 

It was the clubs’ first meeting since Chelsea eliminated boss Sonia Bompastor’s former club Lyon, then the holders, in the 2023 quarter-finals.

The first half was tight, and the match opened up after the interval. Lauren James missed a clear chance for Chelsea, and late on Blues keeper Hannah Hampton made a save to deny Ada Hegerberg.

Lyon, who have won the competition eight times, scored eight goals in their league phase opener last week against Servette.
