Chelsea forward out of Arsenal clash

Daniel Sturridge has failed in his bid to recover from injury in time for this weekend’s derby against Arsenal.

The Chelsea forward was hoping to overcome a hamstring problem ahead of the visit to the Emirates Stadium but has been ruled out of the game.

But boss Roberto Di Matteo confirmed that Frank Lampard has shaken off an ankle knock and is available to face the Gunners.

And Di Matteo shrugged off the controversy surrounding John Terry, insisting the Blues skipper is available for Saturday’s match and that the Premier League leaders are in good spirits.

“The spirit in the camp is good – we’re in good shape and form,” he said.

“We’re confident and we don’t care too much about how the outside world sees us. We have to focus on our strength. That’s the way we operate.”
