Chelsea end losing run with draw at Anfield

Enzo Fernandez’s first-half equaliser ended Chelsea’s losing run.

The Blues, beaten in their previous six Premier League matches, went behind when Ryan Gravenberch fired a fantastic strike into the far corner in the sixth minute.

Chelsea, with Levi Colwill back in the starting line-up following his recovery from a long-term knee injury, levelled when no one got a touch to Fernandez’s free-kick from the right-hand side and the ball drifted into the net.

In the second half, both teams had a goal disallowed and Liverpool hit the woodwork twice.

Cole Palmer netted after being set up by Marc Cucurella, but VAR established that the Spaniard, who played in a more advanced role on the left for Chelsea, had strayed marginally offside.

Curtis Jones then headed in from close range but Cody Gakpo was offside in the build-up.

Chelsea were much improved but did ride their luck when Dominik Szoboszlai’s shot hit the post and when Virgil Van Dijk headed against the bar.
