James to miss Chelsea’s game at Leicester

Chelsea will be without Reece James for Saturday’s game at Leicester and Raheem Sterling looks unlikely to be involved.

James has missed training because of illness and will not be making the trip to the East Midlands.

Sterling, meanwhile, is nursing a hamstring problem and is a doubt.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Blues boss Graham Potter said striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has a back problem and is also a doubt.

Chelsea, who have been plagued by injuries this season, are without a number of other players, including N’Golo Kante, Thiago Silva and keeper Edouard Mendy.

Kante is back in training but the match against his former club comes too soon for the Frenchman, who is building up his fitness.

“Reece has been ill and has not trained today. He will not make the game tomorrow,” Potter explained.

“Raheem had a feeling in his hamstring – more tightness than anything – and he is doubtful.

“Aubameyang has a slight problem with his back and it’s looking like he will miss the game.”
