Pedro faces spell out with hamstring injury

Pedro is expected to miss Chelsea’s next three matches

Pedro has been ruled out of Chelsea’s game at Crystal Palace, where the Blues are also expected to be without Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Pedro has a hamstring problem and is likely to be unavailable for at least 10 days, meaning he is also set to miss Wednesday’s game against Southampton and the FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest three days later.

The Spaniard suffered the injury during the first half of Chelsea’s Boxing Day win at Watford.

He was replaced by young forward Hudson-Odoi, who has been nursing a hamstring problem of his own and was himself taken off towards the end of the game at Vicarage Road.

“We have two problems. The first is the most serious I think, with Pedro,” boss Maurizio Sarri explained.

“Pedro has an injury in his hamstring and he will have to rest I think for 10 days.

“The second problem is Odoi. It is not a serious problem but I don’t know if he will be able to play in the next match.”

Sarri reiterated that Alvaro Morata is fit and available following a recent knee problem, despite having not been selected for recent games.

He said: “Morata is now going very well. He is fit to play. It (leaving him out) was only a tactical choice.”
