Jorginho and James fit but Chalobah joins injured list

Jorginho and Reece James have been passed fit to return to the Chelsea side at West Ham this weekend but Trevoh Chalobah has joined N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic on the sidelines.

Midfielders Kante and Kovacic are still not ready to return, while Chalobah went off during Wednesday’s win at Watford.

But Jorginho and James have trained this week and are in the squad for Saturday’s derby.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel said at a press conference on Friday afternoon that Chalobah’s injury was being assessed and that Jorginho and Reece James being fit was a major boost in light of others being ruled out.

“It’s massive. Reece is the specialist on the (right) side and Jorgi is the guy left from Kovacic and N’Golo – the midfield three,” Tuchel said.

“I am absolutely happy that Ruben (Loftus-Cheek) steps in and the way he does it.

“But we are happy that Jorgi is back training and we can’t wait that Kova and N’Golo come back because the midfield role is a very important part of our game.

“But we will never complain, because we are here to find solutions. We’ll have a strong team on the pitch.”
