Chelsea discussing move for Atalanta defender Ahanor

Chelsea are in talks over a potential deal to sign Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor.

The 18-year-old Italian, primarily a left-back, joined Atalanta from Genoa last summer on a three-year contract.

He made 28 Serie A appearances last season, also making his Champions League debut in a 2-1 win over Club Brugge in September.

He earned his first senior Italy call-ups in May, for friendlies against Luxembourg and Greece.

Xabi Alonso has been reshaping the Chelsea squad since taking charge in July, bringing in Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a club-record £117m, along with Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson.

Chelsea host Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday, following Monday’s 3-2 opening-day win over Fulham.
