Chelsea discuss loan move for Omerou

Chelsea are close to agreeing a loan deal with Middlesbrough for young Blues defender Kenneth Omerou.

Recently-appointed Boro boss Aitor Karanka is looking to improve his squad in the coming weeks and the Teesside club have made enquiries about a number of Chelsea youngsters.

Omeruo, who was signed from Standard Liege in January 2011, previously had a spell on loan with Dutch club ADO Den Haag.

Chelsea are keen for him to pick up first-team experience in England and he was expected to go out on loan before suffering a shoulder injury in September.

The Nigeria international represented his country at last year’s Africa Cup of Nations and is hoping to be selected for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
