Chelsea defender Disasi completes West Ham loan move

Chelsea defender Axel Disasi completed a loan move to West Ham in the final stages of the transger window.

A number of European clubs were also keen on the 27-year-old, who will spend the rest of the season at the London Stadium. The loan deal does not include an option for the Hammers to buy him.

Disasi has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge for some time. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and has not featured for Chelsea for more than a year.

“I’m very happy to be here, to have this opportunity,” Disasi told West Ham’s website. “I’m just ready to fight and to play games.

“Everyone knows my situation in the last few months, so I just want to get back on the field, feel the sensation of games and help the team.”

Blues head coach Liam Rosenior was asked about Disasi’s future ahead of Saturday’s match against West Ham.

“He’s been very, very good in training,” said Rosenior.

“I think every player wants the opportunity to play football – that’s why they do it.

“So if anything comes up for Axel that’s interesting for him and his career then we’ll look at it.”
