Chelsea boss has no concerns about Terry

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo insists there is no prospect of the furore surrounding John Terry affecting the Blues skipper’s performances once the season is under way.

Terry was recently cleared in court of racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand but faces an FA charge relating to the clash between the two players during last October’s west London derby.

The England defender, who has denied the charge, was in the spotlight for much of last season and Di Matteo believes Terry has shown he is able to take controversy in his stride.

“I don’t think it will affect his performances at all,” said the Italian.

“He’s dealt with situations like this in the past and coped with it very well, so I have no concerns about his state of mind.”
