Chelsea v Man City player ratings
Manchester City won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge – Chelsea’s third consecutive Premier League defeat. Here’s how we rated each Blues player.
Robert Sanchez: 5
Largely untroubled in the first half and made a smart save from Rayan Cherki. However, he was left exposed for all three goals and will be disappointed to see Jeremy Doku’s effort flash past him so easily.
Malo Gusto: 6
Diligently managed the threat of Doku in the first half but found life much harder after the break as Manchester City ramped up the intensity. Withdrawn late on with an apparent knock.
Wesley Fofana: 6
The pick of the defenders in the first half, making several vital interceptions to keep Erling Haaland quiet. However, Fofana struggled to maintain that organisation once the floodgates opened.
Jorrel Hato: 5
A difficult afternoon for the youngster. Hato was part of the collective defensive failure for the Nico O’Reilly opener and looked increasingly stretched as City’s rotations moved him out of position.
Marc Cucurella: 6
Unfortunate to see a first-half goal ruled out for offside and forced a brilliant save from Gianluigi Donnarumma late on. One of the few players who looked to have the aggression needed in a game of this magnitude.
Moises Caicedo: 5
A rare off day for the Ecuadorian. Caicedo was caught in possession by Doku for the third goal—a mistake that effectively ended the contest. He struggled to dictate play against Rodri and Bernardo Silva.
Andrey Santos: 5
Battled hard in the opening 45 minutes but was physically shrugged off by O’Reilly for the opening goal. It was a crucial moment that shifted the momentum of the game.
Cole Palmer: 6
Showed flashes of his usual brilliance and saw an early effort ripple the side netting. Palmer tested Donnarumma with a late free-kick but was often forced to drop too deep to influence proceedings.
Estevao Willian: 6
Bright in spells and a constant outlet on the right, but Estevao faded noticeably in the second half. He is still learning how to impose himself when the team is under sustained pressure.
Pedro Neto: 6
The most dangerous player in blue during the first half, testing the keeper with a sharp cross-shot. Like Estevao, the influence of Neto waned as Chelsea lost control of the midfield.
Joao Pedro: 5
Worked tirelessly as the lone striker but was often isolated. Pedro lacked the service needed to truly threaten Marc Guehi and Abdukodir Khusanov in the City defence.
Alejandro Garnacho: 6
Introduced to provide a spark but Garnacho found it difficult to get into the game with City already in total command.
Romeo Lavia: 6
Kept things tidy in the middle and provided the chip for a late Cucurella header, but the game was already gone by the time Lavia arrived.
