Chelsea Under-23s at Reading: three stand-out performers

Chelsea’s development side lost 2-1 at Reading on Monday evening – their first defeat of the season.

A number of Blues youngsters again showed potential, though. Here are three who caught the eye.

Mason Mount

Involved in much of the action before going off 15 minutes from the end. The midfielder rattled the woodwork with one effort and saw a couple of others well saved.

Ike Ugbo

Showed his finishing ability by scoring with a close-range header to put Chelsea ahead. His pace and movement caused the opposing defence problems and so far the striker has looked the part since stepping up from Under-18 level.

Charlie Wakefield

Delivered the cross for Ugbo to score and was generally neat and tidy. Finds space well and can pick a pass.
