Cahill, Luiz and Bertrand start for Chelsea

Chelsea centre-backs Gary Cahill and David Luiz have both been passed fit to start the Champions League final against Bayern Munich and there is also a starting place for youngster Ryan Bertrand.

The return of Cahill and Luiz is a massive boost for the Blues, who are without suspended defenders John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic.

By yesterday it was increasingly clear that interim boss Roberto Di Matteo was planning to include Bertrand, who makes his European debut.

Primarily a left-back, Bertrand is set to be deployed in a wide midfield role, giving his team added defensive cover against Bayern’s dangerous right-sided combination of Philipp Lahm and ex-Chelsea man Arjen Robben.

Didier Drogba will lead the line up front, with Fernando Torres among the substitutes.

Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Luiz, Cahill, Cole, Kalou, Mikel, Lampard, Bertrand, Mata, Drogba. Subs: Turnbull, Essien, Romeu, Torres, Malouda, Ferreira, Sturridge.

Bayern Munich: Neuer, Lahm, Boateng, Tymoschuk, Contento, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Robben, Muller, Ribery, Gomez. Subs: Butt, Van Buyten, Petersen, Olic, Rafinha, Usami, Pranjic.
