Boss tight-lipped over Chelsea captaincy

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has refused to confirm whether John Terry will remain as captain after receiving a four-match ban for racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand.

Terry this week issued an apology for his actions during last year’s west London derby at Loftus Road.

The club say they have disciplined the centre-back but have not revealed what action has been taken.

“We do not discuss publicly the disciplinary matters we take against our players. They remain confidential. You will have to wait and see,” said Di Matteo.

“The action we take against our players is an internal matter and we are not going to discuss it.”

The Italian did confirm that Terry had been told of the decision.

Terry will miss the Blues’ next four domestic games but is eligible to play in Tuesday’s Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.
