Chelsea defender Chalobah ‘a soldier’

Graham Potter has praised Trevoh Chalobah for his recent performances for Chelsea.

The defender has played well in recent weeks and some reports have suggested he could earn a place in England’s World Cup squad.

Blues boss Potter said: “I’ve been very impressed – from day one, I have to say.

“He wasn’t in the side in the first couple of games but acted perfectly. He’s trained very well, been very professional and determined.

“He’s an impressive character, very focused on his football, wants to play, wants to help the team, wants Chelsea to win. He’s great in that regard.

“He’s a bit of a soldier. We’ve had some problems in terms of availability of players, but he’s stood up there and stood in for us and is performing at a really good level.”

Meanwhile, Conor Gallagher, who went off against Brentford after 15 minutes because he was feeling ill, trained on Friday and is expected to be in Chelsea’s squad for this weekend’s game against Manchester United.
