Rafael Benitez has suggested he will decide in a couple of weeks’ time whether to recall Romelu Lukaku from his loan spell at West Brom.
The striker joined Albion on an expected season-long deal in August but a clause in the agreement allows Chelsea to bring him back to Stamford Bridge in January.
Interim Blues boss Benitez and the club’s board have discussed options ahead of the transfer window.
And Benitez revealed: “Part of the conversation was to analyse players on loan and see how they are performing, and we know he’s doing well.
“We have to think about it. In a way it’s good for him to stay there because he is playing and that will be good for his development, but we have to analyse everything.
“It’s too soon for me. Maybe after a couple more games I will have another opinion.”
