Benitez: No move for Chelsea pair

Rafael Benitez has dismissed reports he could be set to take Chelsea duo Juan Mata and David Luiz to Napoli.

Both men played under Benitez during his eventful spell as interim manager at Stamford Bridge last season.

There has been speculation about their futures since Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea, with Mata consistently finding himself overlooked by the Blues boss.

But Benitez, who has also been linked with Barcelona’s former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano, insisted there was little chance of any of them joining him in Italy.

He said: “I read in the papers that we are close to deals for Mascherano, Luiz and Mata, but that is not true. It is very difficult to get players like that.

“On most of the players linked with Napoli, there isn’t a real interest from us. I am happy with the squad I have.”
