Benitez backs Turnbull as Cech misses out
Rafael Benitez has given his backing to Ross Turnbull after Petr Cech was ruled out of Chelsea’s visit to Reading.
Cech sat out the 2-2 draw against Brentford on Sunday, when Turnbull looked shaky in goal as the Blues narrowly avoided an FA Cup upset.
The stand-in keeper is set to play again at the Madejski Stadium and Benitez insists he still has confidence in him.
He said: “When you are not playing too many games it’s always more difficult, so it’s a question of settling down.
“He’s training well and is fine. We don’t have any issue with him.”
The interim manager added: “Petr did some light training today but he was still uncomfortable so we won’t risk him. We will leave him out.”
Meanwhile, Benitez has shrugged off reports he is on the verge of being axed by Chelsea.

We would be better off playing with 11 outfield players than have Turnbull in goal. Turnbull = guaranteed 2 goal head start for the opposition
