Batshuayi keen to return to Chelsea after Valencia loan

Michy Batshuayi has told The Times he wants to return to Chelsea after his loan spell at Valencia.

The Belgian striker has been unable to establish himself as a first-team player at Stamford Bridge since arriving from Marseille.

He spent the second half of last season on loan in Germany with Borussia Dortmund and was allowed to leave on another loan deal after Maurizio Sarri took over as Blues boss in the summer.

But Batshuayi has not given up hope of eventually making the grade as a Chelsea player.

Asked if he would like to join Valencia on a permanent basis, he said: “No. I’ve so much respect for Chelsea and I love them.

“This loan is important for my development, to show how good I am so that I can go back to Chelsea a better player.”

But Batshuayi also admitted he has had no contact with his parent club since arriving in Spain.

“I haven’t spoken to them, not at all,” he said.

“That’s something for my agent and Chelsea to take care of, but I’ve not spoken to the club or Sarri.”
