AVB wanted to sign Parker for Chelsea
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has revealed he discussed taking Scott Parker back to Chelsea while manager at Stamford Bridge.
Parker made only eight league starts during an 18-month spell at Chelsea between 2004 and 2005 and has since established himself as a pivotal player at club and international level.
Villas-Boas held talks with the England midfielder before Parker’s eventual move to north London from West Ham in the summer of 2011.
The Portuguese, sacked by the Blues in March last year, explained: “Last season I thought about him. I spoke with Scotty to come back to Chelsea.”
Villas-Boas added: “He’s an important player, an England international, a great professional and somebody of great ability.
“He can always give you an extra edge on the pitch with his leadership and is still at the peak of his game.”
