Chelsea to play all home WSL matches at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea will play all home Women’s Super League fixtures at Stamford Bridge from the start of next season.

The move marks the end of a nine-year tenure at Kingsmeadow, where Chelsea’s academy sides will continue to play.

The Blues have already been playing Champions League matches at the Bridge in order to comply with Uefa regulations.

Under the new arrangement, attendances will not be capped, and the club intends to stage as many European fixtures there as possible, though a secondary Uefa-compliant back-up venue will be registered.

“The squad, and every player to have pulled on a Chelsea shirt before them, has worked so hard for this,” manager Sonia Bompastor said.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for us to keep growing, to perform at the highest level and to create a special atmosphere in a stadium we all love.”
